Partially Complete Disk Group - MD3000i

$

I have one MD3000i, the past week one disk went failure, and it was replaced but now the new one appeared optimal unassigned. Via CLI I have tried the reconstruct command, getting the next error

"An error occurred reconstructing physical disk[0,7] at line 1,

Error 400 - A SYMBol procedure cannot be carried out because a referenced disk group does not exist.

The command at line 1 that cause the error is:

start physiclDisk [0,7] reconstruct;

The disk is listed Optimal Unassigned

Any ideas on how I can force the reconstruction process on this disk.

I have a LMT-256M6M-41 which is pull out from dell system but I don't have any dell system which can

be installed this mSATA ssd anymore. I installed it to my intel NUC D54250, but it cannot be detected.

I found there's firmware for this LMT-256M6M-41 on DELL support page, but I wonder it will be working

for this undetected ssd.

PowerVault MD3200 - add drives

One of my customers has recently run short on drive space with their PowerVault MD3200.  The first 8 slots have 600GB SAS drives populating them.  These drives have been placed in a RAID 10.

There are still 4 open slots that do not have drives installed.  We have 4 2TB drives that we want to use in these slots and we want to setup a RAID 5 with these 4 drives.

What is the best method to get this done?

Reconnecting drives in a MD3000

So my setup is as follows:

Dell R710 connected to a Dell MD 3000 which is backing up to a Dell MD 1000.

Server was fulfilling DC, DHCP, AD, DNS, PS.

Server failed and had to be reformatted.  Server 2008 R2 Stnd installed and reconnected everything.  I installed Dell MSM and I can see the disk groups and the virtual disks but cannot figure out how to access the data.

There is a windows bare metal restore on the enclosure that I am trying to access to restore the R710.

Storage Container and multiple clusters

Hi,

Using VSM 4.6 I'm trying to create a Storage Container (VVol) accessible from multiple datacenters managed by vCenter.

When craeating a new datastore, the wizard only allows me to chose from on of the available datacenters and of course I can only provide access permissions to the hosts located in this datacenter.

In our setup, all ESXi hosts can access every EqualLogic whatever the datacenter. This is handy to replicate and vMotion from one datacenter to another.

We'd like to migrate to VVols but this limitation is getting in our way.

Is there anyway I can make a datastore created by VSM visible for every hosts or how best to handle replication cros datacenter using one vCenter instance?

Good Morning,

I have a Dell PowerVault MD3220i, which I want to reset to factory options.

I am conected by console, but when we access it gives us *** Expired

Press within 5 second: <S> for service interface, <BREAK> for baud rate *** Expired

And he does not let us do anything else.

We do not know what IP's are assigned the interfaces, so we are trying to access by COM port

Please, how could you access or reset factory settings in this cabin?

Dell R310 not finding TL2000 over fibre

I've been asked to connect a PowerVault TL2000 to a PowerEdge R310 and I've hit a bit of a brick wall with it.

I've installed the install_nonexclusive drivers and rebooted both devices. I've tried crossing the fiber over as I'm connecting directly from the server to the storage. Whatever I do the tape library just doesn't appear in device manager.

In Device Manager, the fibre cards in the R310 are showing as 'Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Fibre' adaptors, in the Network Adaptors section. Should these work? I would have expected them to show as Storage Adaptors rather than Network Adaptors?

We are currently trying to connect via a Brocade 300 switch instead of directly, to see if that makes any difference.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

TL2000, BackupExec 12.5 reporting critical hardware fault

BackupExec 12.5 is reporting a Tape Alert Error.  The details only say Critical - The tape drive has a hardware fault.  Drive: 1, Slot 4.  This error has been happening once every 2-3 weeks for about three months.  The Slot number varies and errors have been reported on slots from both the right and left magazines.  We rotate media every two weeks and the errors have occurred on both media sets.  I cannot isolate this error to a specific job, slot, media tape, or magazine.

How do I determine what is happening?  When looking on the interface of the TL2000, the library warning log has this TRC/CST <84 04 01 1F >.  But that entry is recorded about one hour before the BackupExec error.  What does this mean and is it relevant?  There are not any errors recorded in the Drive Logs.

I recently purchased two Toshiba 2TB SAS drives (product ID MG04SCA200A) for a PowerEdge T710 with a Perc H700 integrated raid controller. IN OMSA the drive capacity show up as 232GB.

The H700 firmware version is 12.10.6-001. The driver version is 4.31.01.64.

Is there a compatibility issue with Toshiba drives and Perc H700?

Fixing Dell Backup and Recovery's display.

I am having a problem of my Dell Backup and Recovery's display. Instead of displaying the icon's name and other stuffs, all I can see is IDS_HOME_053, IDS_DS_000, and such. Again, only in Dell Backup and Recovery's display it happens, there are no problems with the other applications. This occurs after I restore my laptop from a restore point. I restore my laptop after accidentally uninstalling Dell Backup and Recovery. The accident happens after I tried to backup. Instead to backup, an box pop-up asking if I want to uninstall something. After the process, the Dell Backup and Recovery is gone. I look at the Start and control panel. It is not there, then I realize it was Dell Backup which uninstalled. To recover Dell Backup, I restore to an earlier restore point. I successfully restore and Dell Backup is installed. However, the display of Dell Backup is corrupted. Please help me.
