Hi Guys,
We have 4 enclosures (MD1200) on PERC H800 Adapters on 2 PowerEdge R910 servers.
We have never had any monitoring on these enclosures. BIG MISTAKE.
So I now need to monitor these enclosures in my Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 installation (SCOM 2012R2).
I have imported the management packs from MD Storage Array Mgmt Suite 4.1 into SCOM. But when I try to use Dell Discovery Utility and put in the server IP address I get the error "No MD Storage Arrays discovered". So I never get a "dell_MDStorageArray_ip.cfg" file that I can use in SCOM.
After reading a lot of issues I can see that every enclosure needs an IP Address.
Is that correct?
And is there another way to monitor these enclosures in SCOM?
Hope some of you can guide me the right direction.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Thomas Nyvang
Help. I did a system restore, removing my personal files by accident (thinking
question referred to "USER" files, not folders on my C:/!!!! It
only used the first disk I made from Dell's recovery and backup. I still have
2 more dvd's that were unused that may have all my personal "Backup" files.
Is there anyway I can generate these files onto new profile? I had a
corruption, super-imposing a blue clock on many of my files and tried alot of
fixes yesterday; Should have hit "NO" when asked by dell to write over
"personal files" - - - I want to recover all my backuped up files on the last 2 dvd's
into anywhere, or this new profile, but Dell software doesn't offer option.
I had heard that Dell would stop flagging non-Dell drives as "non-critical", but I don't see the firmware update or OpenManage update that will list them as status "OK".
Where is the new firmware?
Not every user will want to buy Dell drives. The only fair thing to do is to allow that without throwing an error.
Hello Community,
I've purchased a Dell MD3620i with 2 x ports 10Gbase-T Ethernet on each controller (2 x controllers).
My vmware environment consists of 2 x ESXi hosts (each with 2ports x 1Gbase-T) and an HP Lefthand storage( also 1Gbase-T). The switches I have are Cisco3750 that have only 1Gbase-T Ethernets.
I'm going to replace this HP Storage with a DELL storage.
As I have never worked with DELL storages, I need your help to answer my questions:
1. What is teh best practices to connect vmware hosts to the Dell MD3620i ?
2. what is the process to create a LUNs?
3. Can I create multiply LUNs on only one disk group? or is the best practice to create one LUN on one disk group?
4. How to set iSCSI 10GBase-T ports working on 1Gbps switch?
5. Is the best practice to connect the Dell MD3620i directly to the vmware Hosts without switch?
6. The old iscsi on HP storage is in a different network, can I do vmotion to move all virtual machines from one iSCSI network to another and then change the iSCSI IP addresses on vmware hosts without virtual machines interruption?
7. Can I bundle two iSCSI ports to one 2Gbps interface and conenct to the switch? I'm using two switches, so I want connect each controller to each switch by bounding their interfaces to 2Gbps. My Question is, would be controller switched over to another controller if the Ethernet link falls on the switch?(in case one switch is rebooting)
tahnks in advanse!
I am bulding a cluster from 2 nodes 2008 R2, and I have configured my new SAN MD3400, added the disks to hosts, when I run the cluster validation i got failure on test (validate scsi-3 persistent reservation Reserve)
Please help me out because dell US don't want to support my region which has no dell support.....!!!
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I have a dell R220 with a PCIe (SAS 6Gbps) HBA external controller (Dell part number in the quote 405-AACH). I need to hook this to a Tandberg StorageLoader LTO-4 - tape autoloader - LTO Ultrium - SAS Mfg. Part: 7816-LTO which has on it a 26 pin 4x Shielded Mini MultiLane SAS (SFF-8088) external interface.
The vendor (non-dell) sent me a 1m internal SAS cable (SFF-8087 to SFF-8482) which I am totally surprised how that can be connected even internally. So another questions Is, is this internal cable going to be useful for anything for server to tape drive connection?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
I'm running into a issue with our Dell MD3000i.
The errors we are getting are:
1 - Degraded Physical Disk Channel
2 - Individual Physical Disk - Degraded Path
and
3 - Unreadable sctor(s) detected
I have an MD1220 with only half the drive bays in use in raid 5. I want to add more drives to populate all drive bays. When I do that, will I be able to add whole new raid configuration. For example, can I take two of the new hard drives and make those raid 1, then use four new disks as raid 5...
I am trying to set up replication from a DR4100 to a DR4000 and get the following when creating the replication: "Error: Invalid replication peer: <name of appliance> Same error if I try from the dr4000 to the DR4100. Both are at firmware 3.1.2015.0. The BIOS is different between them.
There is a firewall between them, but I have allowed access on ports 9904, 9911, 9915 and 9916
Any suggestions?
Hi Dell,
We're having issue on our Powervault TL2000. display says Drive Comm Err Exception F101. I have tried different troubleshooting steps mentioned below but it didn't resolve the issue.
1. Shutdown/Restart the device (multiple times) still issue occurs
2. Reseat the drive sled still issue occurs
3. Replaced the Fiber Cable still issue occurs
4. Checked the Qlogic Fibre Channel connected to Media Server host and confirmed working properly still issue occurs
5. Tried to save the Drive Dump but error occurred. it says:verify that the device is offline at the host prior exercising any service functions. Tried to stop all Backup Exec services and restart the TL2000 but still unable to save the drive dump.
6. tried the spare SFP port in the drive sled but still issue occurs
What will I try now is to upgrade to the latest library and drive firmware. our current firmware for library and drive are:
Currently Installed Library Firmware | 4.50 / 2.50e |
Drive Firmware Revision | 74H6 |
our TL2000 is already out of warranty. Kindly help us to resolve our issue. appreciate all your replies.
attached herein is the error for reference.
thank you
Hi everyone, attempting to upgrade some disk firmware with the UEFI A13 nautilus utility (booted via USB) for some 900GB 2.5" SAS disks today, going from CS05 to CS09, and getting the following error.
My platform is an R720+MD1220+ PERC H800, all at the latest firmware (updated via ftp.dell.com about a month ago.)
Anyone have any experience with this? The disks are refurb from a reliable vendor, and all 24 are exhibiting the exact same behavior so i highly doubt they're bad. Is CS05 to CS09 too big of a jump?
ST9900805SS is the drive model # in question.
Thank you,
I have a 2950 connected to a cx4-120 with a direct connect fibre channel using a QLE2460. I am able to connect to the storage manager and see the IP's with a serial PPP connection and to the fibre channels with Qconnectconsole from the server, but neither Powerpath nor Storage management for SAN register any storage arrays. I am getting this error when trying to connect with Storage management for SAN ''Unable to find Virtual Disk Service (VDS) or any VDS
hardware providers installed on the server. VDS and at least one VDS
hardware provider must be installed for Storage Manager for SANs to
function. Please check the VDS and VDS hardware providers installation'.
Unisphere server utility picks up the storage and the IP's but when I try to connect with Unispehere Service Manager, it says it cannot connect to the IP's of the SP's.
The stoage was used with a previous server but I have no info on it. I am at a loss here, a week trying to get this connected, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am working with Dell but the tech keeps telling me I have to zone, there is no switch!
Hi Team,
We have a couple of errors displayed after running a health check:
Degraded Physical Disk Channel
Storage array: XX-REP-SAN01
Degraded physical disk channel: 1
Individual Physical Disk - Degraded Path
Storage array: XX-REP-SAN01
Degraded physical disk paths:
Channel: 1
Related physical disks: (1, 0) (1, 1) (1, 2) (1, 3) (1, 4) (1, 6) (1, 7) (1, 8) (1, 10)
The status is showing as optimal in a few locations but with warnings in others.
Please can you help out here? This is for a remote site that I cannot get to easily.
Thanks

I have an LTO 3 TapeLoader and have purchased an LTO 6 and I am trying to determine the best possible way to get the old catalogues and the old tapes to be available for the new tapeloader. I am not wanting to have to keep the LTO 3 tapeloader hooked up to my network for an extended period of time just to be able to do a restore off of an LTO 3 tape. How can I get my LTO 3 tapes and their data moved to the LTO 6 platform?
Hi,
We are running into a issue with one of our MD3000i Storage Arrays. The error we are getting is the degraded physical disk channels 0,1
We checked all the cables and controllers. Looking at a previous post they mentioned a NVRAM update. However i am not sure how to check that this is the problem. The array has been running in "optimal" state for the last 3 years without a problem.
Please let me know.

I need to update my H710P firmware to version 21.0.2-0002. The download does not work in any of my T7600's for some reason. I have Vista 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit and still get no where. Is there a DUP available for download since the ZPE.exe file will not work?
Got MD3000i with recovery guru saying Individual Physical Disk but the disk isn't listed...
Degraded physical disk paths:
Channel: 1
Related physical disks: (Unknown )
The storage profile shows everything as optimal although I think it's been reset with smcli.
I've attached the support bundle.
As title says. I need help Recovering data from an IDE hard drive and transfer to another drive.
